When Samantha Comito took on a position as a bank teller after completing her business degree, something clicked. She quickly learned that she not only enjoyed working directly with clients, but found a passion for providing sound financial advice to help position them for long-term success.

It was an experience that would shape her life and career path—one that started from a young age when Samantha began working in the family bakery at just 12-years-old. It was there that she got a sense of what it takes to run a successful business.

A multimillion-dollar operation, the bakery was more like a small supermarket & restaurant, while her family also owned the building above that had 12 residential units. Samantha was a jack-of-all-trades and did everything from managing tenants to baking and serving, as well as eventually managing payroll for the 10 full-time and six part-time employees. Samantha says she learned most of her business and customer service skills from that hands-on work, lessons she still brings to client interactions today

After graduating, Samantha transitioned from the family business to Scotiabank where she worked as a teller and Personal Banking Office from 2007 to 2011. She assisted clients with financial planning, investment management, mortgages and credit financing. Along the way, Samantha completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and earned the Personal Financial Planner (PFP) designation. Her focus shifted exclusively to mortgages in 2014.

Around that time Samantha connected with Outline Financial co-founder Joanna Lang and the two formed a strong business relationship. Since then, Samantha has earned a reputation as one of the most knowledgeable mortgage agents in the industry. She has used her background in entrepreneurship and customer relations to deliver a truly unique experience to her clients—who she encourages to use the mortgage financing process as a tool to help set their long-term financial roadmap. “There are a lot of different terms and rates, but good advisors help clients understand how those products will help further their financial goals and satisfy their lifestyle needs,” she explains.

Here’s what you may not know about Samantha: She comes from a huge family—Samantha is half Italian and half Brazilian by ancestry, and is fluent in both Italian and Portuguese—that loves to spend time together.  That means big parties, long-lasting dinners and a busy schedule of family gatherings.  In the time that’s left over after work and family (and there isn’t much), Samantha is a huge fan of adventure travel and enjoys trying new restaurants—which can be a unique adventure on its own.
