As an investment analyst in his hometown of Dundee, Scotland, John Ellis discovered a passion for finance and customer service shortly after graduating university. The ambitious young professional became determined to broaden his expertise and decided to seek out new opportunities in a larger city. We’re very happy he chose Toronto as his overseas destination.
John left picturesque Dundee—a city of around 150,000 people—in August, 2017, with a Master of Arts degree in Business Economics from the University of Dundee. He would go on to earn a mortgage agent licence 2018. He launched his career in Canada as a mortgage administrator with Scotiabank early that year, bolstering his client-management experience, not to mention building skills in areas such as mortgage compliance and underwriting. “Toronto offered more opportunities to network and gain experience, and I also have relatives here,” John says of the decision to relocate to Canada.
We’re excited to have John aboard, leveraging his keen analytical skills and warm approach to customer service to help our clients make sound financial decisions. The one piece of advice he routinely offers to would-be home buyers: “Do your research, because there’s always something changing in the Toronto real estate market. It takes the right advice to find the best financial product to suit your goals.”
What John wants you to know about Outline Financial: “We’re a team with a breadth of knowledge right across the financial industry, not to mention decades of combined experience. This is also a great place to work. Our small team feels like a family, everyone is supportive and is aligned behind the same vision—working together to provide the very best in customer service. I feel our strong client relationships reflect the boutique experience that makes Outline so unique.”
Here’s what you may not know about John: He’s an avid hiker who spends a great deal of his free time here in Toronto looking for interesting new trails to traverse. When he’s not busy exploring the great outdoors or building relationships with our clients, he also gives back to the community by tutoring grade-school children in math and English.
